Most retouching offers you find are twelve time zones away. That is not automatically bad — but it changes the shape of your week. You send at the end of your shooting day, the studio starts theirs when you are asleep, and every question costs a full day before it gets an answer.
I work from Lithuania, in the EU. Practically, that means my working day overlaps yours, an invoice from me is an ordinary EU invoice, and payment is a normal SEPA transfer rather than an international one. None of that improves the retouching. It just removes friction that has nothing to do with the images.

How the day lines up
From Ireland and the United Kingdom I am two hours ahead: a gallery uploaded when you finish at six in the evening is waiting when I start. From Portugal and Spain, one to two hours. From Germany, the Netherlands, Belgium, France, Switzerland, Austria, Italy, Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Poland and Czechia, one hour. From Finland, Estonia, Latvia, Greece and Romania, none at all — we are in the same hour.
It matters most for the question in the middle of a batch. "Should this birthmark stay?" gets an answer within your working day, not the next one. Across a month that is the difference between editing being a background process and editing being a thing you chase.
Invoicing and payment inside the EU
An invoice from an EU photographer to an EU business is a document your accountant has already seen a thousand times. Payment goes by ordinary SEPA transfer in euros, or PayPal if you prefer. There is no customs declaration, no import formality and no wondering which side pays the transfer fee.
For photographers outside the EU — the UK since Brexit, Switzerland, Norway — this is a service, not a shipment, so nothing crosses a border physically and the paperwork stays simple. PayPal or bank transfer, whichever suits your bookkeeping.
What being in Europe does not change
It does not make the retouching better. What makes the retouching worth buying is that one person does it — I shot 450+ weddings and 1,500+ sessions before I started editing for other photographers, and I still edit every file myself, by hand, without AI plugins.
That is the part that is hard to buy elsewhere at this price: not proximity, but the fact that batch twelve is edited by the same hands as batch one, so your gallery does not drift halfway through the year.
